Latex, also known as natural rubber, is the milky white sap of the tropical rubber tree. The main countries where the tree is grown are Asia, Africa and Central America. Latex is still the most important raw material in rubber production. Modern life would be almost unthinkable without this raw material, from which we make such a variety of everyday household items. The latex industry is increasingly relying on high speed separators to obtain latex efficiently.
Natural latex was once used in large quantities for commercial production in the Amazon. Today, over 90% of global natural rubber production comes from Asia, with a large proportion of it coming from these countries. Other major Asian producers include Thailand, India and Sri Lanka. Both China and the Philippines have also increased their rubber production significantly.

Working process
After harvesting, the rubber milk is collected and transported to the production facility, where it is first stored in large settling tanks to separate impurities. After a certain settling period, the latex milk enters the separation system.
The separator separates most of the water phase, known as “skimmed milk”, from the plantation milk, as well as other contaminants. The plantation milk, also known as “field latex”, contains approximately 30% latex. After separation of the skimmed milk, the latex content of the concentrate increases to more than 60%. Once stabilising additives have been added, the concentrate is sold as commercial latex
